Berlin - Poznań Seminar on Discrete Mathematics in Hamburg |
This year Berlin - Poznań Seminar on Discrete Mathematics will be held on May 23-24 in Hamburg. The seminar will be hosted by both The Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH) and The University of Hamburg (UHH). Detailed program can be found here. The aim of the Seminar is to bring together young researchers from Berlin and Poznań (lately also from Hamburg and Warsaw), to present and discuss recent results and establish a friendly collaboration. |

Berlin-Poznań Seminar on Discrete Mathematics |
This year Berlin-Poznań Seminar on Discrete Mathematics will be held on November 15-16 in Gułtowy (near Poznań). Detailed program can be found here. More information about the Palace in Gułtowy can be found at http://palace.amu.edu.pl/index.php/gultowy. Berlin-Poznań Seminar is a joint seminar between the discrete mathematics research groups from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (led by Prof. M. Karoński) and Freie Universität in Berlin (prof. Tibor Szabó). Its scope covers selected topics in discrete mathematics and algorithms, and enumerative, extremal and probabilistic combinatorics. The seminar alternates between Berlin and Poznań. It started in the mid-90's and is intended to be a forum for cooperation between young researchers and PhD students from both centers. Its aim is to discuss and present recent advances in algorithmic discrete mathematics and random graph theory. |

Spotkanie jubileuszowo-świąteczne. |
Najblizsze spotkanie seminaryjne bedzie wyjatkowe. Mówic bedziemy jak zwykle o matematyce dyskretnej ale tym razem w nieco inny sposób. Nie bedzie jednego referenta ani klasycznego wykładu. Z okazji 35-lecia istnienia seminarium ZMD chcielibysmy spotkac sie i w miłej atmosferze powspominac stare czasy oraz przyblizyc nowym uczestnikom seminarium historie Zakładu Matematyki Dyskretnej, co by ja od zapomnienia ocalic :)
I w tym miejscu liczymy na Panstwa pomoc. Wszystkich obecnych członków ZMD, a takze osoby, które chciałyby w tym spotkaniu uczestniczyc zachecamy do zaangazowania sie w jego przygotowanie. Mówiac konkretniej, zalezy nam na tym, aby odszukac/przywołac: • stare zdjecia, nagrania, skany, z historia i członkami naszego Zakładu/Seminarium zwiazane.
Mile widziane beda wspominkowe przemowy i prezentacje (nawet te bardzo krótkie). Do niedzieli włacznie prosimy o informacje co, komu udało sie znalezc/przygotowac i ile czasu oficjalnego bedzie chciał zajac (na adres mailowy: zmd@amu.edu.pl). Bardzo liczymy na Panstwa niezawodna pamiec i powszechnie znana, nieprzecietna kreatywnosc!;) Wszystkich serdecznie zapraszamy! |

Lectures in computer science. |
This year the lecture is given by Johan Håstad from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Detailed schedule is avaible on the webpage: http://www.enigma.amu.edu.pl/index.php?doc=2012 These annual series of lectures in computer science were estabilished by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Adam Mickiewicz University to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the breaking of the German Enigma cipher machine. The series is named after Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski, alumni of the University who played a key role in the Enigma breaking. |
